Description
The Kichler Phix is a 4-light linear pendant built around a 1303mm brass bar suspending four adjustable cone shades in matt black. Each shade houses an E27 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately) and pivots independently on a brass collar, allowing light to be directed downward for task lighting or angled outward for ambient wash. The bar is suspended from a central brass canopy on adjustable rods, giving a total drop range of 746-1356mm on installation.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and workbenches where directional light control matters, the Phix suits surfaces 1.8-2.4m in length with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. The 1303mm width positions four light sources evenly along the bar, reducing shadows across the full length of the worktop or table below. The adjustable drop allows the fitting to be set 700-800mm above the surface depending on ceiling height, keeping the shades clear of sightlines for seated diners or standing cooks.
The matt black cone shades measure approximately 218mm in projection when facing forward, and the white interior reflects bulb light downward efficiently while reducing glare when viewed from the side. The brass finish on the bar and central pivot ball adds warmth to contrast the black shades, pairing well with brass cabinet hardware, tap finishes and pendant cords in warm-toned kitchens and dining rooms. The Phix works across mid-century, industrial and contemporary interiors where articulated geometry is valued over static symmetry.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Phix take?
Four E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each, sold separately. Most users pair the Phix with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for kitchen and dining use. Filament-style bulbs are visible through the shade aperture when the cones are angled upward.
Can the shades be repositioned after installation?
Yes. Each shade pivots on a brass collar and can be angled independently at any time, allowing light direction to be adjusted without rewiring or dismounting the fitting.
What length surface does the 1303mm width suit?
The Phix works best over surfaces 1.8-2.4m in length, positioning four evenly-spaced light sources across the full width. For surfaces shorter than 1.8m the fitting may overhang; for surfaces longer than 2.4m the spacing may leave the ends under-lit.
What ceiling height is needed?
The minimum drop of 746mm plus the 341mm fitting height requires a ceiling height of at least 2.7m to allow 700mm clearance above a standard dining table or 850mm above a kitchen worktop. Higher ceilings can extend the drop up to 1356mm on installation.
