Description

The Petra is a 100cm linear suspension light built around a single 8.5cm-wide alabaster bar housed within a brass geometric frame. An integrated 35W LED running the length of the alabaster diffuser casts 3000K warm white light through the natural stone, turning the mineral veining and tonal variation of the alabaster into the central visual feature when lit.

Designed for suspension above kitchen islands, dining tables and bar counters, the Petra provides linear task and ambient light across surfaces 1.5-2.5m long. The cable length adjusts from 96.2cm minimum drop to 316.2cm maximum, accommodating ceiling heights from 2.4m up to double-height spaces. The brass frame and canopy pair with warm timber, marble worktops and neutral-toned interiors, while the natural alabaster provides contrast against darker wall finishes.

The alabaster bar shows different patterns of mineral veining and colour shift depending on the section of stone from which it was cut, so each Petra presents a slightly different appearance when lit. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations away from direct moisture exposure. The brass finish on the metal frame is a warm gold tone rather than polished or brushed, with a low-sheen satin surface that reduces reflections under daylight.

For suspension above a kitchen island or dining table, the fitting typically sits 70-90cm above the worktop, which works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. The extended cable length accommodates double-height spaces or vaulted ceilings.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits the Petra to dry indoor locations. It cannot be used in bathrooms, kitchens directly above hobs or sinks, or any area with direct moisture exposure.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each alabaster bar is cut from natural stone, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material, not a defect.
