Description

The Penn Station is a 330mm semi-flush ceiling light built around an inverted clear glass bowl held by three curved brushed brass straps that connect to a central brass ceiling plate. The glass bowl houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and the 267mm total drop from ceiling to glass base makes it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for hallways, kitchen ceilings, dining areas and bedroom centres where headroom matters, the Penn Station provides ambient and functional light without projecting far into the room. The clear glass maximises light dispersion in all directions, and the open design means the bulb itself is visible, making filament-style or vintage Edison LED bulbs a popular pairing. The brushed brass finish on the metal frame provides a warm metallic accent that works across traditional, industrial and contemporary interiors.

The three brass straps curve outward from the central ceiling mount before connecting to a brass collar that clamps the glass bowl in place, creating a structural frame that doubles as the visual design. The bowl itself is thick clear glass with a slight weight (approximately 1.2kg including frame), giving the fitting presence without overwhelming smaller rooms. The brushed finish on the brass reduces reflections and fingerprint visibility compared to polished brass, and the warmth of the metal pairs comfortably with whites, greys and natural wood tones.

What bulb does it take?

The Penn Station takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. The open glass design suits vintage filament-style LED bulbs or standard warm-white LEDs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 267mm drop from ceiling to base of the glass bowl makes it appropriate for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above, where a pendant would hang too low or intrude into walking space.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming capability depends on the bulb you fit. If you use a dimmable LED bulb and pair it with a compatible LED dimmer switch, the Penn Station will dim. Non-dimmable bulbs will not respond to a dimmer.

How is the glass bowl fitted?

The glass bowl sits inside a brass collar held by the three curved brass straps. The collar typically unscrews or unclips for bulb changes and glass cleaning, allowing the bowl to be removed without dismantling the ceiling mount.
