Description

The Pediment is a 460mm outdoor wall lantern with two E14 bulb holders housed behind seeded glass panels on all four sides, framed in a dark aged copper metal casing. The seeded glass texture breaks up the light output into a softly diffused pattern, casting ambient light onto porches, alongside front doors, or on exterior walls facing patios and pathways. The copper finish shows a weathered patina that deepens over time with outdoor exposure.

Designed for UK exterior use with an IP44 rating, the lantern withstands rain and moisture without water ingress into the bulb chamber. A hinged door on one side allows bulb replacement without removing the entire fixture from the wall — the door opens outward on a brass hinge and latches closed with a simple magnetic catch. The 155mm projection from the wall gives clearance for the bulb heads while keeping the lantern proportionate to medium-width entrances and porches.

The dark aged copper finish is a mid-brown tone with darker undertones, not a bright metallic copper. The rivet detailing on each corner and the stepped top cap are cast into the metal frame, giving the lantern a historical reference to gas-lit carriage lamps without replicating specific period details. The 178mm width suits front doors, side entrances, and garden room walls where a medium-scale wall light is needed. The lantern accepts two E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose warm white LED or traditional incandescent depending on the desired light colour.

Frequently Asked

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashes from any direction. It can be mounted on exterior walls exposed to rain, but should not be installed where it would be submerged or face high-pressure water jets.

How are the bulbs changed?

One side of the lantern features a hinged door that opens outward on a brass hinge. The door is held closed by a magnetic catch and can be opened by hand to access the bulb holders without removing the entire fitting from the wall.

What bulb type is recommended?

The lantern takes two E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each. Most users pair this with warm white LED bulbs in the 4-6W range at 2700K to match the traditional aesthetic. Bulbs are sold separately.

Will the copper patina change over time?

Yes. The dark aged copper finish will deepen and develop further patina when exposed to outdoor weather. This is a natural characteristic of copper finishes and is part of the material's appeal in exterior applications.
