Description
The Patterdale is a wall-mounted light with a single hammered metal arm finished in aged gold, supporting a white linen drum shade. The arm extends 19.5cm from the wall and rises to 62.5cm total height, with the shade sitting at approximately 50cm above the mounting point. The fitting takes a single E27 screw-cap bulb (sold separately) inside the shade, which diffuses the light evenly.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms and living room alcoves where ambient wall lighting is needed without a table surface, the Patterdale mounts to a square backplate that conceals the wiring behind plasterboard or solid walls. The backplate is 10cm square and fixes with two screws into standard wall plugs. The metal arm arrives detached and screws onto the backplate during assembly, which takes approximately 10 minutes with a single screwdriver.
The aged gold finish is applied over iron with a deliberate hammered texture across the surface, giving variation in light reflection under both daylight and artificial lighting. The white linen shade measures 31cm diameter and 19cm height, large enough to balance the vertical arm without overwhelming narrow hallway walls. The aged gold pairs naturally with warm-toned interiors, brass door furniture and traditional oak or walnut woodwork.
The fitting accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W. LED compatibility makes the Patterdale suitable for low-energy lighting installations, but the fitting does not support dimmer switches — the bulb will either be on or off at full brightness depending on the wall switch.

Frequently Asked
Is the Patterdale dimmable?
No. The fitting does not support dimmer switches. The bulb operates at full brightness when the wall switch is turned on, and turns off when the switch is turned off.
What bulb does it take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient hallway or bedroom lighting.
How is it assembled?
The metal arm arrives detached from the backplate. The backplate fixes to the wall with two screws into standard wall plugs, then the arm screws onto the backplate. The shade clips onto the arm once the bulb is fitted. Assembly takes approximately 10 minutes with a single screwdriver.
What wall type does it suit?
The fitting suits plasterboard, solid brick and block walls. The backplate is 10cm square and requires two fixing points. On plasterboard, use appropriate cavity wall anchors rated for the 1.24kg weight plus bulb.
