Description

The Parma is a 20cm cylindrical wall light made from white gypsum, designed to cast light both upwards and downwards through a single GU10 fitting. The gypsum body is factory-finished in white and can be painted over with standard emulsion to match wall colours, allowing the fitting to blend into the surrounding surface or be accented with a contrasting finish.

Designed for hallways, staircases, landings and bedrooms where wall-mounted accent lighting is preferred over ceiling fittings, the Parma creates a wash of light above and below the fixture that highlights architectural features and texture. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations. The 8cm width and 10cm projection from the wall make it suitable for narrower corridors where larger wall lights would intrude on circulation space.

The gypsum construction gives the fitting a plaster-like surface that accepts household emulsion paints without requiring a primer in most cases. The cylinder mounts directly to the wall using a rear bracket, with wiring concealed behind the body. The GU10 bulb (sold separately) sits recessed within the cylinder, so only the light output is visible, not the bulb itself. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient illumination.

Can the gypsum be painted?

Yes. The gypsum surface accepts standard household emulsion paints. Most emulsions adhere without primer, though a coat of white primer can be used if matching darker colours. Allow paint to fully cure before switching the light on to avoid heat damage to wet paint.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb up to 5W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose a warm-white LED GU10 between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient hallway or bedroom lighting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture and must be installed in dry indoor locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use.

How is it mounted?

The cylinder mounts to the wall using a rear bracket that conceals the wiring behind the gypsum body. The bracket fixes to a standard UK back box or directly to a solid wall using appropriate fixings for the wall type.
