Description
The Parkstone is a 700mm tall bollard built from solid basalt stone with a 316 stainless steel top plate, housing an integrated 6W 3000K LED that casts downward light through a vertical slot in the stone. The basalt body presents as a dark grey monolithic column with a naturally rough-textured surface, contrasting with the brushed stainless steel cap. The LED sits behind the steel plate, directing light downwards through the vertical aperture to illuminate the textured stone face and the ground immediately around the bollard.
Designed for pathways, driveways and garden borders, the Parkstone suits residential plots, hospitality grounds and commercial landscaping where low-level directional lighting is needed without light spill above the horizontal plane. The 160mm square footprint and solid stone construction give the bollard stability on gravel, paving and soil-planted borders. The IP55 rating protects the LED and internal wiring against rain and dust ingress, making the fitting suitable for year-round outdoor installation in exposed positions. The downward-facing LED minimises glare and light pollution while providing enough illumination to define pathway edges and steps after dark.
The basalt stone is dense, heavy and frost-resistant, with tonal variation between individual pieces depending on the mineral content of the quarried block. The stainless steel top plate is welded rather than screwed, eliminating potential corrosion points around fixings. The 3000K LED colour temperature gives a warm white output that complements natural stone tones and planting without the blue-white cast of higher colour temperatures. The bollard weighs approximately 22kg when fully assembled, requiring a solid foundation or paving base for installation.

Frequently Asked
What foundation does the Parkstone need?
The bollard requires a solid base — either a concrete foundation pad or a firm paving slab. The 22kg weight and 160mm square footprint need stable support to prevent tilting or sinking over time, particularly on gravel or soil. A 200mm square concrete pad at least 150mm deep is typically sufficient for residential installations.
Can the LED be replaced?
The LED is integrated and designed to last the functional life of the fitting. Elstead provides a 10-year warranty covering the LED and electrical components. If the LED fails within the warranty period, contact Elstead or Niori for a replacement or repair.
How much light does it cast?
The 6W LED provides low-level path marking rather than bright floodlighting. It illuminates the ground within approximately 1-1.5m of the bollard and highlights the textured stone face. For pathway lighting, spacing bollards 3-4m apart typically provides continuous definition without over-lighting.
Does the basalt vary between pieces?
Yes. Basalt is a natural volcanic stone, so tonal variation, surface texture and subtle mineral deposits differ between individual bollards depending on the section of stone quarried. This is a characteristic of natural stone, not a defect.
