Description

The Parish Mini is a 180mm-diameter outdoor chain pendant cast from die-cast aluminium with clear glass panels and a black powder-coated finish. The lantern housing an E27 bulb fitting (sold separately) is suspended on a 490mm black chain, giving a minimum drop of 495mm and a maximum adjustable drop of 965mm from ceiling to lantern base. The IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making the pendant suitable for covered porches, patios, doorways and pergolas where it's sheltered from direct rain.

Designed for traditional and cottage-style exteriors, the Parish Mini pairs a classic coach lantern silhouette with a compact footprint that suits narrow doorways, small porches and side entrances where a full-size hanging lantern would overwhelm the space. The clear glass panels allow unobstructed light output from the bulb, providing functional illumination for doorsteps and paths while the black finish recedes visually against dark soffits and painted door frames.

The die-cast aluminium construction gives the lantern resistance to corrosion and impact damage, while the powder-coated finish provides a matt black surface that withstands UV exposure without fading or flaking. The 490mm chain length is adjustable on installation by removing links, allowing the pendant to be set at the correct height for door clearance or porch proportions. At 345mm tall and 180mm wide, the lantern sits comfortably in spaces where a 200-250mm pendant would feel cramped.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, but the pendant is designed for covered locations such as porches, pergolas and doorways where it's sheltered from direct downpours. Fully exposed mounting may reduce the lifespan of the finish and bulb.

What bulb is recommended?

The E27 fitting accepts any standard screw-base bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the traditional lantern style. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can the chain length be shortened?

Yes. The 490mm chain can be shortened on installation by removing individual links, allowing the pendant to be adjusted between the 495mm minimum drop and 965mm maximum drop depending on ceiling height and door clearance.

Is the black finish prone to fading?

The powder-coated finish is UV-resistant and designed to withstand outdoor exposure without fading or flaking. Elstead Lighting covers finish degradation under the 10-year warranty.
