Description
The Parish is a twin-headed lamp post with two upward-facing lanterns in black powder-coated die-cast aluminium and clear glass. Each lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind a six-panel clear glass cage, casting light in all directions from a height of 2280mm. The post itself is a fluted column with a ribbed base plate, manufactured in the UK by Elstead Lighting.
Designed for driveways, front courtyards, garden pathways and larger front lawns, the Parish provides two-point light coverage from a single post position. The 650mm width across the twin arms means the lanterns sit wide enough to light a 2-3m-wide pathway or driveway entrance when positioned centrally. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making the post suitable for year-round outdoor exposure in the UK climate.
The black powder-coated finish covers the entire die-cast aluminium frame, including the base plate, post column, curved support arms and lantern housings. This coating resists corrosion and UV fading better than painted finishes, maintaining colour consistency through seasons of rain, frost and sun exposure. The clear glass panels allow maximum light transmission while the traditional six-panel design and pointed finial caps give the Parish a heritage-style appearance that suits period properties, cottage gardens and classical garden layouts.
Installation requires mounting the base plate to a solid concrete foundation or paved surface using masonry fixings (not supplied). The base plate measures approximately 280mm square. Cable entry is through the hollow post column, with the electrical connection made inside the base cavity before the post is fixed in position. The twin-lantern configuration provides more balanced light distribution than single-headed lamp posts, reducing shadowing on either side of the pathway.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Parish take?
Each lantern takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 8-12W and 2700K for a traditional amber glow that suits the heritage styling.
How is the lamp post installed?
The base plate mounts to a solid concrete foundation or paved surface using masonry fixings (not supplied). Cable entry is through the hollow post column. Electrical connection is made inside the base cavity before the post is bolted down. Professional installation by a qualified outdoor electrician is recommended.
Is the IP44 rating suitable for coastal locations?
IP44 provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, which suits inland UK gardens and driveways. Coastal locations with salt spray may benefit from additional corrosion protection or more frequent cleaning of the powder-coated surfaces.
What's the warranty coverage?
Elstead Lighting provides a 10-year warranty on the Parish lamp post, covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, accidental damage, or wear from incorrect maintenance.
