Description

The Parish is a half-lantern outdoor wall light in black die-cast aluminium with clear glass panels on three sides and an E27 bulb fitting inside. The lantern measures 420mm high by 200mm wide with a 137mm projection from the wall, giving it the proportions of a traditional coach lamp scaled for porch entrances, side doors and pathway lighting alongside garden paths or driveways.

Rated IP44, the Parish resists water splashes from any direction and protects against dust ingress, making it suitable for installation on walls exposed to rain but not in positions where it would be directly hosed or submerged. The die-cast aluminium body carries a black powder-coated finish that resists corrosion and UV degradation in outdoor conditions. The clear glass panels maximise light output and allow the bulb inside to be visible when lit, creating the classic lantern aesthetic.

The E27 socket accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W (bulb sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament depending on the desired light colour and running cost. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to recreate the amber glow of traditional gas lanterns. Manufactured in the UK by Elstead Lighting, the Parish carries a 10-year warranty covering the aluminium casting, powder coating and glass seals.

Frequently Asked

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Parish can be installed on walls exposed to rain, but should not be positioned where it would be directly hosed or submerged. Typical installation points are porches, covered entrances, and walls under eaves.

What bulb does it take?

The Parish takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb at 2700K-3000K to recreate the warm amber glow of traditional lanterns while keeping running costs low.

Can it be used on a timer or motion sensor?

Yes. The Parish can be wired into a standard outdoor lighting circuit controlled by a timer, photocell or PIR motion sensor. The fitting itself has no integral control, so external switching is required.

How is the black finish maintained?

The powder-coated aluminium requires minimal maintenance. Wipe the lantern and glass panels with a damp cloth once or twice a year to remove dust, pollen and water marks. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the coating.
