Description

The Parish is a traditional outdoor up wall light built around a die-cast aluminium lantern housing with clear glass panels, finished in black powder coat. The lantern measures 520mm tall and projects 300mm from the wall on an upward-angled bracket, directing light towards the soffit, eaves or upper wall surface. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the lantern behind the glass.

Designed for porches, entrance doorways, garage exteriors and covered patios, the Parish casts upward light that emphasises vertical surfaces and architectural details above the fitting. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction, making the fitting suitable for sheltered outdoor positions exposed to rain and wind. The lantern's clear glass maximises light output without diffusion, so pairing it with a warm-white LED gives brighter illumination than a frosted or amber glass equivalent.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion better than pressed steel alternatives, and the black powder coat is applied over a pre-treatment layer that prevents moisture reaching the base metal. The lantern body is gasketed where it meets the wall bracket to keep water out of the internal chamber. Manufactured in the UK by Elstead Lighting and covered by a 10-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

The Parish takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional outdoor appearance.

Is it suitable for exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating means the fitting is protected against water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as porches, covered patios and under eaves. It is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or submersion.

Does the light shine upwards or downwards?

This is an up wall light, meaning it casts light upwards towards the soffit, eaves or upper wall surface. This creates accent lighting on architectural features above the fitting rather than providing ground-level illumination.

How is the black finish maintained?

The black powder coat can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. For more stubborn marks, use a mild soap solution and rinse with clean water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the protective coating.
