Description

At 90cm across, this is the longest Paracuru picture light we stock, sized for the kind of canvas that fills a wall on its own. The body is a slender bar with a shallow projection, so it sits close and pushes its light forward and down over the face of the picture rather than out into the room. The LED is built in and runs at 18W, giving a warm white light that suits oils, watercolours and framed photographs without cooling the colours. It is not dimmable, and switching happens away from the fitting rather than on it.

We would choose it above a wide landscape, a long mirror or a row of prints hung as a single block, where a shorter light would leave the outer edges in shadow. It earns its keep over a sideboard in a dining room, along a hallway wall, or in a study where the artwork is the thing you want lit and nothing else. Polished chrome reads bright and modern, so it pairs well with glass, pale walls and metal frames. Rain and steam are no friends of it, so keep it to dry rooms rather than a bathroom or a porch.

The finish is a mirror-bright chrome, which stays crisp as long as you keep it clear of dust. An occasional pass with a dry microfibre cloth is all it asks; polished metal marks easily, so leave the kitchen sprays and abrasive creams in the cupboard. It carries a three year warranty. The same light comes in antique brass and sand black if chrome is too cool for the room, and in shorter lengths for smaller frames, which makes it easy to light a mixed wall of pictures with one consistent look. The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to buy or replace.
