Description

The Paola is a 2-light wall light built around a silver painted metal frame with looping arms that curve upward to hold two conical black fabric shades. Each shade takes an E14 bulb (sold separately), and the fabric diffuses light to provide ambient rather than task illumination. The backplate sits 340mm tall and 320mm wide, with the arms projecting 210mm from the wall.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms and living room alcoves where ambient wall lighting is needed, the Paola works as a single fitting or in symmetrical pairs either side of a fireplace, mirror or bed. The 320mm width suits walls with at least 400mm of clear horizontal space, and the 210mm projection means the fitting clears door frames and picture rails without obstruction. The silver painted finish on the metal frame pairs with traditional and transitional interiors, while the black shades add contrast against lighter wall colours.

The looping arm design draws from classical wrought-iron wall sconce proportions but uses a lighter-gauge metal to reduce weight to 0.8kg per fitting, making it suitable for standard plasterboard walls with appropriate fixings. The black fabric shades are permanently attached to the frame and diffuse light in all directions rather than directing it downward, so the fitting provides general room illumination rather than reading light. Mantra produces the Paola with optional glass droplets that hang from the arms for a more decorative appearance, though the version shown here is supplied without droplets as standard.
