Description
The Palma is a 368mm outdoor wall lantern with a tapered hexagonal frame in burnished bronze finish, clear glass panels on all six faces, and a decorative pineapple finial on the roof. The frame holds a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the glass, casting light in all directions through the lantern structure. The IP44 rating protects the fitting against splashes and moisture ingress from any direction, making it suitable for exterior wall mounting in exposed positions.
Designed for porches, front door surrounds, patio walls and covered entryways, the Palma fits areas where a traditional lantern style is wanted but space is limited. The 243mm projection from the wall and 203mm width give the lantern presence without dominating a narrow porch or cottage-style entrance. The clear glass allows the full output of the bulb to pass through unfiltered, making it effective as functional entrance lighting rather than just a decorative accent.
The burnished bronze finish provides a warm mid-tone brown with subtle highlights where the frame edges catch light, differentiating it from darker oil-rubbed bronze or brighter antique brass finishes. The pineapple finial references colonial and Georgian exterior lighting traditions, where the pineapple motif signalled hospitality. The glass panels are bevelled at the edges and set into the metal frame with weatherproof seals, keeping water out while allowing maximum light transmission.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Palma take?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional appearance, or a decorative filament-style LED to complement the lantern frame.
Can it be used in fully exposed positions?
The IP44 rating protects against splashes and moisture from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, under eaves, and partially sheltered patio walls. For fully exposed positions with direct rain and wind, a higher IP rating (IP65 or above) is recommended.
How is it mounted to the wall?
The lantern mounts to a standard UK exterior back box or directly to masonry using screws through the rear mounting plate. The cable enters through a knockout on the back plate, which is then concealed once the lantern is fixed in place.
What other sizes are available in the Palma range?
Hinkley produces the Palma in multiple sizes including medium and large wall lanterns, plus post-top and pedestal variants. Use the search function or filters to find other Palma sizes in stock at Niori.
