Description
The Palma is a 2-light outdoor wall lantern with a tapered glass and metal frame topped by a decorative pineapple crown, finished in burnished bronze. The lantern houses two E14 candle-style bulbs (sold separately, maximum 40W each) behind clear glass panels set into a metal frame that tapers from the wide base to the peaked roof. The pineapple crown is a traditional hospitality motif cast in metal and sits at the apex of the pyramidal roof.
Designed for mounting on exterior walls beside front doors, garage entrances, courtyard gates and covered terraces, the Palma's IP44 rating provides protection against splashes and moisture from any direction, making it suitable for locations with some overhead shelter but not full weather exposure. The 457mm height and 301mm projection suit larger doorways and wall areas where the lantern needs to balance the architectural scale. The clear glass maximises light output in both directions — outward to illuminate steps or pathways and upward to wash the wall surface.
The burnished bronze finish is a mid-tone brown-bronze with darker aged patina in the recesses, giving depth to the frame's profiles and the pineapple crown's layered petals. The finish pairs with warm brick, natural stone, painted render in cream or grey, and timber cladding. The metal frame is treated for outdoor durability, and the clear glass panels are sealed into the frame to prevent water ingress while allowing easy bulb replacement through the hinged access panel at the base.
Hinkley manufactures the Palma collection in the United States with a 3-year guarantee. The lantern mounts to a standard UK backplate wired to mains 230V, with all mounting hardware and a detailed installation guide included.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Palma take?
The lantern takes two E14 small Edison screw bulbs, maximum 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional lantern appearance.
Can this be used in fully exposed locations?
The IP44 rating protects against splashes from any direction but not direct driving rain or submersion. The Palma is best suited to covered porches, recessed doorways, and walls with some overhead shelter rather than fully exposed positions.
How is the glass accessed for bulb replacement?
The lantern has a hinged access panel at the base of the frame. Release the panel catch, swing it open, replace the bulbs, and close the panel to reseal the glass enclosure.
What does the pineapple crown signify?
The pineapple is a traditional symbol of hospitality and welcome in American colonial architecture, commonly used on exterior lanterns, gatepost finials and door knockers to signal a welcoming home.
