Description
The Paignton is a 300mm-tall mini bollard built from brushed stainless steel with a frosted glass top and a crossed arch metal band protecting the glass. The E27 lampholder sits beneath the frosted glass, which diffuses light downwards and sideways to illuminate pathways, garden bed edges, and patio perimeters without casting direct glare.
Designed for pathway edging, step lighting, and small garden zones where full-height bollards would dominate, the Paignton's 300mm height places the light source at ankle level, creating ground-level illumination without blocking sightlines across the garden. The IP55 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the bollard suitable for exposed coastal installations and regions with frequent rain. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion in salt air and damp climates.
The arched metal band across the glass top is both structural and decorative, preventing the glass from lifting while adding a geometric detail to an otherwise minimal cylinder form. The frosted glass hides the bare bulb inside, presenting a uniform glow when lit. The 102mm diameter footprint requires minimal ground clearance and the bollard can be installed in gravel, soil borders, or alongside paving slabs using a ground spike or concrete footing.

Frequently Asked
What IP rating does this carry and where can it be installed?
The Paignton carries an IP55 rating, protecting against dust ingress and water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for exposed pathways, coastal gardens, and any outdoor position subject to rain, though it is not designed for submersion or continuous water flow.
What bulb does it take?
The bollard takes a standard E27 bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED bulb between 4-8W and 2700K for path lighting, or a filament-style LED for a decorative glow.
How is it installed?
The bollard requires either a ground spike (if installing in soil or gravel) or a concrete footing (if installing in paving or hard landscaping). The cable run must be protected in conduit or armoured cable suitable for outdoor burial. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Is the stainless steel suitable for coastal areas?
Yes. The brushed stainless steel construction resists corrosion in salt air and damp climates, making the Paignton particularly well-suited to coastal installations where mild steel or powder-coated finishes would degrade more quickly.
