Description
This miniature glass owl figurine is a small, bright bird with a lot of character packed into very little space. Its body and folded wings are a rich red glass, topped by a glossy black head, and its front is a soft pink panel flecked with silver that catches the light as you move past. Two white eye discs rise into neat pointed tufts, each set with a dark pupil, and a yellow beak sits between them. Yellow feet, with the toes picked out, peek from beneath the body. It measures 5.5cm tall, 3cm wide and 3.5cm deep, so it sits comfortably in the palm of your hand.
We like it for the small spaces a larger ornament would crowd: the end of a bookshelf, a windowsill, a desk beside a laptop or a dressing table among everyday things. The red glass glows when daylight comes through it, so a spot near a window shows the colour at its best, and the black head and yellow feet keep it lively against plain white walls or pale wood. If you already keep a few small glass animals or birds on a shelf, it sits happily beside them, and it is just as cheerful on its own.
The figurine is made of glass, with a smooth, glossy surface and no moving parts. It rests on its two yellow feet and a small flared tail at the back, which together give it a steady stance on a flat shelf. To care for it, dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away to keep the glass bright. As with any small glass ornament, place it where it will not be knocked from an edge. Wrapped in tissue with a card, it makes a bright little gift that says a lot for its size.
