Description

The Ovila Small is a 20cm glass pendant with a vertically ribbed shade in smoked black glass, suspended on a chrome canopy and adjustable cable. The shade is formed from pressed glass with 16 vertical ribs running from top to bottom, creating a fluted surface that catches and refracts light as the bulb inside glows through the tinted material. The pendant houses a single E27 bulb, and it arrives with 1 x E27 8W bulb included, so it is ready to use out of the box.

Designed for kitchens, dining areas and lounge corners with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Ovila works as a single pendant over a breakfast bar or in clusters of two or three above a dining table. The adjustable drop ranges from 45cm minimum to 200cm maximum, allowing the pendant to be set 600-800mm above a worktop or 700-900mm above a table depending on ceiling height and the desired visual weight.

The smoked black glass gives the shade a charcoal tone when unlit and a warm amber-grey glow when lit, with the vertical ribbing intensifying the gradient from dark outer edges to brighter centre. The chrome canopy adds a polished metallic accent that pairs with both warm and cool-toned interiors. At 1.4kg the pendant has enough mass to hang straight on the cable without swaying, and the IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations only.

What bulb does it take?

The Ovila takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. It comes with 1 x E27 8W bulb included, so it is ready to use as soon as it is fitted. The warm-white glow suits the smoked glass tone well.

Can it be used in multiples?

Yes. The compact 20cm diameter makes it well-suited to clustering in groups of two or three above a dining table or kitchen island, spaced 400-600mm apart depending on table width.

How is the drop adjusted?

The cable length is adjustable during installation, allowing the pendant to be set anywhere between 45cm and 200cm from the ceiling. Once installed, the drop is fixed unless re-adjusted by an electrician.

Is the glass fragile?

The shade is pressed glass with vertical ribbing that adds structural rigidity. Handle with care during unpacking and installation, but once fitted the 1.4kg weight and rigid ribbing make it less prone to damage than smooth blown glass of similar size.
