Description

The Knightsbridge outdoor wall lantern is a 200mm tall box-frame fitting in anthracite powder-coated 304 stainless steel with four clear glass panels and a single E27 bulb holder. The IP23 rating protects against vertically falling water and makes it suitable for covered porches, entrance canopies and sheltered wall positions where direct rainfall is blocked by an overhang.

Designed for modern and contemporary outdoor entrances, the lantern projects 150mm from the wall and casts light in all directions through the clear glass panels. The anthracite finish is a dark grey, almost charcoal tone that pairs with grey render, painted brick and composite cladding. The 40W maximum load accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness depending on whether the fitting is used as security lighting, decorative accent or functional entrance light.

The 304 stainless steel frame resists corrosion in typical UK coastal and urban conditions. The powder coating is applied over the steel to provide the anthracite finish and adds a second layer of weather resistance. The clear glass is untreated, so condensation may form on the inside of the panels in cold weather when a warm-white bulb is in use — this is normal behaviour for outdoor glass lanterns and evaporates once the bulb has been on for 10-15 minutes.

What does IP23 mean for outdoor use?

IP23 protects against vertically falling water and solid objects larger than 12.5mm. This lantern is suitable for covered porches, entrance canopies and wall positions under an overhang, but not for fully exposed walls where driving rain would hit the fitting directly.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes any E27 bulb up to 40W. For outdoor entrance lighting, most users choose a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb. If you pair this lantern with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch, the fitting will dim. The lantern itself does not control dimming.

Can condensation form inside the glass?

Yes, especially in cold weather when a warm-white bulb is in use. This is normal for outdoor glass lanterns and evaporates once the bulb has been on for 10-15 minutes. It does not indicate a leak or a fault.
