Outdoor LED Wall Lantern IP54 8W - White Polycarbonate

The Knightsbridge LANT1W is an outdoor wall lantern with an integrated 8W LED rated at IP54 for protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. The entire lantern, including the hexagonal body, classical roof detail and opal diffuser panels, is moulded from white polycarbonate rather than metal or glass, giving the fitting corrosion resistance in coastal and wet climates without the weight or fragility of traditional coach lanterns.

Designed for porch entrances, garage sides, garden walls and gate posts, the lantern mounts to vertical surfaces on a short arm bracket with a 230mm projection from the wall. The integrated LED produces 555lm at 4000K cool white, providing functional visibility rather than warm decorative light. The IP54 rating permits installation in exposed positions but not in zones requiring full water jet protection (IP65+), so the lantern suits covered porches and wall positions under eaves or canopies where direct heavy rain is limited.

The polycarbonate construction is impact-resistant to IK08 standard and does not corrode, rust or require repainting over its service life. The integrated LED is rated for 60,000 hours L70B50 lifespan, meaning the LED will still produce at least 70% of its original light output after 60,000 hours of operation. At typical domestic use of 4 hours per evening, this equates to approximately 40 years before replacement is needed. The fitting is Class II double-insulated and does not require an earth connection during installation.

Can this be used in fully exposed positions without a canopy?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashing from any direction, but not sustained heavy rain or water jets. The lantern suits covered porches, positions under eaves or canopies, and garden walls where some shelter from direct downpours is present. For fully exposed positions requiring IP65 or IP66 protection, consider a higher-rated fitting.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and rated for 60,000 hours L70B50 lifespan. At typical domestic use this equates to approximately 40 years before replacement of the entire fitting becomes necessary.

What is the light output like?

The lantern produces 555lm at 4000K cool white, which provides functional visibility for entrances, pathways and gate posts rather than warm ambient light. The cool white tone is closer to daylight than traditional warm white outdoor lighting.

Does the polycarbonate need maintenance?

Polycarbonate does not corrode, rust or require painting. Wipe the lantern periodically with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt buildup. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could scratch or cloud the polycarbonate surface.
