Description

The Knightsbridge LANT4W is an outdoor LED half wall lantern with an integrated PIR motion sensor, built from white polycarbonate with an opal diffuser and an 8W 4000K LED module delivering 440 lumens. The PIR sensor detects movement across a 90° angle up to 8m away, switching the light on automatically when motion is detected and off after a preset delay.

Designed for porch lighting, side entrances, garage doors and pathways where hands-free activation is needed, the half-lantern profile mounts flush against the wall with 99mm projection from the mounting surface. The IP54 rating protects the internal components from rain and dust, making it suitable for fully exposed outdoor installation in the UK climate. The Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection during wiring.

The polycarbonate body resists impact and corrosion better than metal or glass equivalents, requiring minimal maintenance over the rated 60,000-hour LED lifespan (approximately 20 years at 8 hours daily use). The 4000K colour temperature produces a neutral cool white light that aids visibility without the warm bias of traditional bulbs. A manual override function allows the light to be switched permanently on or off independently of the PIR sensor when required.

What is the PIR detection range and angle?

The PIR sensor detects movement across a 90° horizontal angle up to 8m away from the fitting. Detection performance is strongest when movement crosses the sensor's field of view rather than approaching directly towards it.

Can the PIR be adjusted or disabled?

The fitting includes a manual override function that allows the light to be switched permanently on or permanently off, bypassing the PIR sensor when required. Consult the product manual for wiring and switch configuration details.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 8W LED module is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The rated lifespan is 60,000 hours (L70B50), which equates to approximately 20 years of typical domestic use at 8 hours per day.
