Description

The Knightsbridge LANT3W is a half-lantern outdoor wall light moulded from white polycarbonate with an integrated 8W LED producing 440 lumens of 4000K cool white light. The lantern body measures 362mm high and projects 99mm from the wall, with a stepped classical profile and an opal diffuser panel that hides the LED module while distributing light across a 225-degree beam angle.

Rated IP54 for outdoor use, the polycarbonate construction resists rain ingress and UV degradation, making it suitable for house entrances, porch areas, garage side walls and garden pathways where the fitting is partially sheltered from direct weather. The half-lantern form allows it to sit flush against an exterior wall without requiring clearance behind the unit, and the Class II double-insulated design removes the need for an earth connection during installation.

The polycarbonate material is lighter and more impact-resistant than glass or metal lanterns, and the white finish conceals dust and rain marks better than darker alternatives. The 8W integrated LED is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50 (the point where 50% of LEDs have degraded to 70% of their original output), translating to approximately 20 years of use at 8 hours per night. Can this be used in exposed outdoor positions?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for partially sheltered outdoor positions such as porch areas, garage walls and covered entrances. For fully exposed positions subject to driving rain, a higher IP rating (IP65 or IP66) would be more appropriate.

Is the LED replaceable?

No, the LED is integrated into the fitting. The LED is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50, which translates to approximately 20 years of use at 8 hours per night. When the LED reaches end of life, the entire fitting would need to be replaced.

What colour is the light output?

The LED produces 4000K cool white light, which gives a neutral-to-cool tone suited to functional outdoor lighting where visibility matters more than creating a warm ambience. The 440lm output provides moderate illumination over a 225-degree beam spread.

How is it mounted?

The half-lantern form sits flat against an exterior wall and is fixed using two mounting screws through the back plate.
