Description
The Orlo is a 105mm diameter fixed recessed downlight with a white aluminium bezel and acrylic diffuser, designed for GX53 bulbs up to 15W. The fitting sits flush with the ceiling once installed, projecting just 41.5mm into the ceiling void, making it suitable for shallow ceiling depths where deeper recessed fittings would not fit.
Designed for residential and commercial dry interiors, the Orlo works in kitchens, hallways, bedrooms, offices and retail spaces where general ambient lighting is needed without visual clutter on the ceiling surface. The fixed orientation means the light projects straight down — this is not an adjustable spotlight. The white finish allows the fitting to blend into white or light-coloured ceilings, or to provide a clean accent against darker ceiling tones.
The aluminium construction provides structural rigidity and heat dissipation for the GX53 bulb, while the acrylic diffuser softens the light output to reduce glare. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor spaces — bathrooms, wet rooms and outdoor soffits require higher IP-rated alternatives. The GX53 base is a two-pin twist-and-lock format common in compact fluorescent and LED downlights, offering a lower-profile bulb than the taller GU10 or ES fittings.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is needed?
The fitting requires a minimum 41.5mm ceiling void depth to accommodate the full height of the recessed body. Measure from the back of the plasterboard or ceiling surface to the nearest obstruction above (joists, services, insulation) before cutting the aperture.
Does it come with a bulb?
No. The fitting accepts a GX53 bulb up to 15W, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 7-11W LED GX53 bulb in 3000K or 4000K depending on the room application.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is only suitable for dry indoor spaces. Bathrooms, wet rooms and other moisture-prone areas require IP44 or IP65 rated downlights to meet UK Building Regulations Part P.
Is the light adjustable?
No. The Orlo is a fixed downlight — the light projects straight down from the ceiling. If you need directional light for wall washing or accent lighting, look for an adjustable or gimbal downlight instead.
