A cable grip is one of those small parts that does a job out of all proportion to its size. This one is a compact black collar that closes onto pendant flex and holds it at the length you have settled on, so the surplus can be tucked out of sight rather than left looping in view. The form is plain and rounded, sitting close against the cable so the eye passes straight over it. There is nothing electrical inside, and nothing to switch, dim or set.

We reach for these where a pendant has arrived with rather more cable than the room actually needs, which is more often than not. Over a dining table, a kitchen island or beside a bed, the drop that looks right is seldom the drop that comes out of the box, and a grip lets you decide on a height and keep it. What size is the grip?

It is 14mm across and 22mm tall, so it reads as a small collar on the flex rather than an addition you notice.

Is it electrical?

No. It is a non-electrical accessory that grips the cable only; it makes no connection and carries no current.

Will it work with any pendant flex?

It is sized for the round flex typically used on pendants, including those in the Orion range. Very thick or flat cable is best checked against the 14mm body before ordering.

Can I reposition it if I change the drop?

Yes. It can be released and reset if you later want the shade to hang higher or lower, or moved to a different pendant altogether.

How should I clean it?

A dry cloth along the flex and over the collar is enough. Avoid metal polish, solvents and anything damp.
