Description

The Orion is a 4-light LED cluster pendant from Mantra featuring four matt black cone-shaped shades suspended from a 500mm circular matt black canopy. Each shade houses an integrated 8W LED module emitting 3000K warm white light at 590 lumens per pendant, giving a combined 2360 lumens across all four. Antique brass detailing on the stem of each pendant contrasts with the matt black finish and provides a warm metallic accent.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and stairwells with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Orion uses adjustable wire lockers on each pendant cable to control the drop height and spacing between individual shades. The minimum drop of 230mm allows the four pendants to cluster tightly for lower ceilings, while the maximum 2720mm drop accommodates double-height spaces and vaulted stairwells. The 120° beam angle from each cone directs light downward onto surfaces while the matt black interior of each shade prevents glare when viewed from below.

The 500mm canopy spreads the four pendants across a width suitable for a 1.6-2m dining table or kitchen island when the individual cables are positioned at the edges of the canopy. The combined 32W power consumption delivers similar light output to a traditional 200W halogen four-pendant cluster while generating less heat. The matt black finish absorbs rather than reflects ambient light, allowing the warm glow from the 3000K LEDs to dominate the visual effect. The 5kg combined weight requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a reinforced plasterboard anchor rated for the load.

Is the Orion dimmable?

No. The integrated LED modules are not compatible with dimmer switches and must be connected to a standard on-off switch circuit.

Can the drop height of each pendant be adjusted independently?

Yes. Each of the four pendants has an individual wire locker on its cable, allowing you to set different drop heights and create staggered or clustered arrangements during installation. The minimum drop is 230mm and the maximum is 2720mm per pendant.

What size dining table or island does the 500mm canopy suit?

The 500mm canopy works best over a 1.6-2m dining table or kitchen island when the four cables are positioned near the edges of the canopy. For larger tables consider spacing two Orion clusters along the length rather than a single central fitting.

What ceiling fixing is required for the 5kg weight?

The 5kg combined weight requires fixing directly to a ceiling joist or using a plasterboard anchor rated for at least 8-10kg. Standard cavity fixings are not sufficient for this load. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before installation.
