Description

The Orion is an 800mm ring chandelier built from 36 natural Spanish alabaster panels arranged around a brushed brass frame. The panels sit shoulder-to-shoulder in two tiers, forming a continuous low-profile band just 100mm high. Thirty-six G4 lamps (sold separately) sit behind the alabaster, with each panel acting as its own diffuser. The fitting suspends from four slim cables on a matching brushed brass canopy.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls, stairwells and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights of 2.7m or higher, the Orion works as the primary ambient light source for spaces of around 15-25m². The ring format casts light downward and outward through the stone rather than into a single pool, so the fitting suits round or rectangular dining tables of 1.4m or wider. Suspension cables can be shortened on installation to set the drop.

Each alabaster panel is cut from natural Spanish stone, so the veining, milky tone and faint cloud patterns vary across the 36 segments and between individual chandeliers. The brushed brass frame uses a low-sheen finish that reads as warm gold without the mirror reflections of polished brass, and the inner and outer brass rings give the alabaster a defined edge top and bottom. At 800mm in diameter the Orion has substantial visual weight without crowding standard 2.7-3m ceilings.

What bulbs does the Orion take?

The chandelier uses 36 x G4 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Most buyers fit warm-white G4 LED capsules at 2-3W and 2700K-3000K, which give an even glow through the alabaster without overheating the stone.

What ceiling height is needed?

The suspension cables allow a generous drop, so the Orion suits ceiling heights of 2.7m and above. Cables can be shortened on installation. Above a dining table the ring typically hangs 750-850mm above the surface; in a hallway or stairwell, base of the ring at 2.1-2.3m above floor level is usual.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each of the 36 panels is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, translucency and tonal variation differ between panels and between individual chandeliers. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Wipe the panels gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, which can stain the porous stone.
