Description
The Orio is a 181x65cm full-length mirror with a hand-finished gold leaf MDF frame and a bevelled glass plate. The frame is 4cm deep and finished by hand to create a warm, radiant surface that catches ambient light without the high reflectivity of polished metal. The bevelled mirror edge adds subtle dimensional depth where the glass meets the frame.
Designed for hallways, dressing areas, bedrooms and above console tables, the Orio can be hung vertically as a full-length mirror or horizontally above furniture. The 181cm height provides head-to-toe reflection when mounted vertically with the base approximately 10-15cm above floor level. When hung horizontally, the mirror suits placement above sideboards, console tables or low credenzas in living rooms or dining rooms.
The gold leaf finish is applied by hand to the MDF substrate, creating tonal variation across the frame surface that gives each mirror a slightly different character depending on ambient lighting. The 17.6kg weight requires secure wall fixing into masonry or stud framing — the mirror is supplied with D-ring hangers on the reverse for both vertical and horizontal mounting. The frame depth of 4cm gives the mirror a defined presence on the wall without projecting too far into narrow hallways.
The Orio is part of Schuller's decorative mirror collection, manufactured in Spain. The gold leaf finish pairs with warm-toned interiors, brass and bronze fixtures, and both classical and contemporary furniture styles. The rectangular profile and minimal detailing allow the mirror to work in spaces where ornate or heavily moulded frames would compete with existing architectural detail.

Frequently Asked
Can the Orio be hung horizontally or vertically?
Yes. The mirror is supplied with D-ring hangers on the reverse that allow it to be mounted in either orientation. When hung vertically at 181cm height, it functions as a full-length mirror. When hung horizontally, it suits placement above console tables or sideboards.
What wall fixings are needed?
The mirror weighs 17.6kg, requiring secure wall fixing into masonry or timber stud framing. Use heavy-duty wall anchors rated for at least 20kg on masonry, or screw directly into studs on stud walls. The D-ring hangers are pre-fitted to the rear of the frame.
Does the gold leaf finish vary between mirrors?
Yes. The gold leaf is applied by hand to the MDF frame, so tonal variation and the pattern of the leaf application differ slightly between individual pieces. This is a characteristic of hand-finished gold leaf, not a defect.
Is the mirror suitable for bathrooms?
The MDF frame is not moisture-resistant, so the Orio is best suited to dry areas such as hallways, bedrooms, dressing rooms and living spaces. In bathrooms with high humidity or direct splash exposure, the frame may swell or the gold leaf may tarnish over time.
