Description

The Orb is an 80cm cluster pendant built from 37 frosted white glass globes suspended on individual braided silver cables from a polished chrome central column and ceiling rose. Each globe houses a G9 lamp holder, and the varied cable lengths gather the spheres into a dense, cloud-like mass beneath the ceiling fixing. Total drop is 85cm from the ceiling to the lowest globe.

Sized for double-height entrance halls, stairwells, formal dining rooms and open-plan living spaces, the Orb works best where there is room above and around it for the cluster to read as a sculptural shape rather than feel compressed. The 150cm cable length gives flexibility on installation, allowing the fitting to be set 600-800mm above a dining table or hung lower in a stairwell void where the cluster is viewed from multiple levels.

The frosted glass diffuses each G9 lamp into a soft, even glow rather than a sharp point of light, so all 37 globes together produce ambient illumination across the room without glare directly into the eyeline. The polished chrome stem and ceiling plate keep the supporting hardware visually quiet against the white globes, letting the cluster itself be the dominant element. Glass and metal construction gives the fitting a substantial physical presence appropriate to the rooms it suits.

How many bulbs does it need and what type?

The Orb takes 37 x G9 capsule bulbs (sold separately). Most customers fit warm white LED G9 bulbs around 2-3W and 2700K-3000K, which keeps total power draw modest while filling each frosted globe with a warm glow.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting measures 85cm from ceiling to the lowest globe and is 80cm in diameter, so it suits ceilings of approximately 2.7m and above. In stairwells and double-height halls it can be hung lower using the 150cm cable length supplied.

Is it suitable above a dining table?

Yes. The 80cm diameter works well above larger dining tables of 1.8m or longer. Hang the lowest globe 700-800mm above the tabletop so the cluster sits within sight without obstructing views across the table.

Is the height adjustable?

Yes. The 150cm cables can be shortened during installation to set the cluster at the correct drop for the room. Once cut and fitted, the height is fixed.
