Description

The Opaz Small is a 19cm diameter glass pendant with a smoked gradient finish, transitioning from opaque black at the top to translucent grey at the base. A matt black canopy and cable holder suspend the glass shade on an adjustable cable, with a single E27 bulb socket positioned centrally inside the shade. The bulb (sold separately, up to 20W) is visible through the lower translucent section, making filament-style LEDs a natural pairing.

Designed for kitchen islands, hallway runs, and bedside positions where a compact pendant provides focused light without overwhelming the space, the Opaz Small works as a single fitting or in multiples spaced 600-800mm apart along a worktop or dining counter. The adjustable drop ranges from 35cm to 145cm, allowing the pendant to be set 600-700mm above a kitchen worktop in a room with 2.4m ceilings, or lowered to 700-800mm above a table in taller spaces.

The smoked gradient reduces glare from the bulb while still allowing light to pass through the lower half of the shade, creating a soft downward pool of light with minimal upward spill. The matt black metalwork blends into dark ceilings and contrasts cleanly against white or light-coloured ceilings without creating hard reflective edges. At 0.8kg the pendant sits comfortably on standard ceiling roses without needing additional support brackets.

The Class 1 electrical fitting requires an earth connection and is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations only. The E27 socket accepts standard Edison screw bulbs in LED, halogen or filament form, with most users pairing the pendant with a 6-10W warm-white LED or a decorative filament bulb between 2200K-2700K to complement the smoked glass tone.

What bulb does the Opaz Small take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 20W. Bulbs are sold separately. A warm-white LED (2700K-3000K) or decorative filament bulb works well with the smoked glass shade.

Is the pendant dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb used. If you fit a dimmable LED bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch, the pendant can be dimmed. The fitting itself does not restrict dimming capability.

Can the height be adjusted after installation?

The cable length is set during installation and is adjustable between 35cm and 145cm total drop from ceiling to base of shade. Once installed, the pendant hangs at a fixed height unless the cable is re-fed through the canopy.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The Opaz Small is rated IP20, which is suitable only for dry indoor locations. It cannot be used in bathrooms, utility rooms, or any area where it may be exposed to moisture or steam.
