Description

The Opaz is a 3-light cluster pendant from Schuller, suspending three smoked black glass globes on adjustable cables from a 44cm diameter matt black ceiling canopy. Each globe measures approximately 20cm diameter and is hand-blown with a gradient tint that shifts from deep charcoal at the base to translucent grey at the crown. The pendant ships with three E27 dimmable LED bulbs rated at 3000K warm white, providing a combined output of 2250 lumens across the three lights.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, or bedroom clusters over a bedside position, the Opaz allows each cable to be set independently on installation. The maximum drop is 150cm with all three cables fully extended, and the minimum is 65cm when shortened. This adjustability allows the globes to be staggered in a cascading arrangement or set at equal height for a more symmetrical composition. The matt black canopy includes gravity toggles that anchor it flush to the ceiling, compensating for uneven plaster and ensuring the cables hang plumb.

The smoked glass acts as a partial diffuser, softening the warm glow from the E27 bulbs while still allowing the filament shape to be visible when viewed from below. The gradient tint means the upper half of each globe appears lighter when the bulb is on, creating a halo effect against the darker lower portion. The combined glass and hardware weight of 2.68kg requires installation into a ceiling joist or noggin rather than plasterboard alone, and the IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor spaces away from direct water contact.

The monochrome palette of matt black metalwork and smoke-toned glass pairs with contemporary interiors featuring concrete, natural oak, dark-stained timber or charcoal textiles. The included LEDs are dimmable when paired with a trailing-edge dimmer (sold separately), allowing the output to be lowered for evening ambient lighting or raised for task lighting over a worktop or table surface.

Are the cable lengths adjustable?

Yes. Each of the three cables can be adjusted independently during installation, allowing the globes to hang at different heights in a cascading arrangement or at equal heights. The minimum drop is 65cm and the maximum is 150cm per cable.

Do the bulbs come with the pendant?

Yes. The Opaz includes three E27 dimmable LED bulbs rated at 3000K warm white with a combined output of 2250 lumens. The bulbs are compatible with trailing-edge dimmers if you wish to adjust the brightness.

What ceiling height is needed?

For installation over a kitchen island or dining table, a ceiling height of 2.4m or above is recommended to allow the pendant to hang 70-80cm above the surface. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Opaz if the cables are shortened to the 65cm minimum drop.

Can it be installed in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the pendant is suitable only for dry indoor spaces. It cannot be used in bathrooms, shower rooms or any location where it may be exposed to water or high humidity.
