Opalis LED Wall Light 27W 3000K - Matte Black

The Opalis is a 40cm LED wall light built around a continuous loop of metal tubing finished in matte black, mounted on a circular backplate. An integrated 27W LED runs inside the loop behind an opal acrylic diffuser, producing 1,396 lumens of 3000K warm white light distributed evenly around the frame's curve.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and feature walls where both task and ambient light are needed, the Opalis works on walls with standard single-gang back boxes. The irregular organic loop shape (approximately 40cm wide by 46cm tall) creates visual interest without taking up floor space, and the shallow 6cm projection from the wall keeps it clear of doorways and narrow passages. The dimmable LED allows the light to be adjusted from bright wash light for reading or task work down to low-level mood lighting in the evening.

The matte black finish absorbs reflections and gives the metal loop a solid, architectural presence that contrasts with lighter wall colours. The opal acrylic diffuser softens the LED output and prevents glare, while the continuous loop design means light escapes in all directions rather than being directed downward or upward only. At 0.75kg the fitting is light enough to mount on plasterboard with suitable fixings, and the Class 1 electrical rating means it requires an earth connection during installation.

Schuller manufactures the Opalis in Spain, and this model carries an IP20 rating suitable for dry indoor locations. The CRI rating of >80 ensures colour rendering is accurate enough for residential interiors, and the 50/60Hz compatibility means it works on both UK and international mains supplies.

Is the Opalis dimmable?

Yes. The integrated 27W LED is dimmable, allowing you to adjust output from full 1,396lm brightness down to low-level ambient light. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model — trailing-edge LED dimmers typically work best with integrated LED wall lights.

What rooms is it suitable for?

The Opalis carries an IP20 rating, so it is suitable for dry indoor locations only: living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, dining rooms, home offices. It cannot be used in bathrooms or outdoor locations.

How is it mounted?

The circular backplate mounts directly to the wall over a standard single-gang back box. At 0.75kg total weight, it can be mounted on plasterboard with appropriate fixings or screwed directly into masonry. The Class 1 electrical rating requires an earth connection during installation.

Can the loop be rotated to a different orientation?

No. The loop is fixed in the orientation shown, with the backplate at the bottom of the oval shape. The design is intended to be wall-mounted in this configuration only.
