Description
This is an opal LED GLS bulb with a large E27 screw cap and two sensors of its own: one that reacts to movement and a dusk-to-dawn sensor that reacts to fading daylight. It has the classic pear shape, 11.2cm long with a diameter of 6cm. Its plastic opal shade spreads the glow evenly so you never see the LEDs themselves. It draws 6.1W and gives 830lm of warm white light at 2700K, the soft, homely tone most people want around the house. The IP rating is IP20, and that settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.
Because the sensors sit in the bulb itself, an ordinary E27 lampholder becomes a light that answers movement, with nothing more than a change of bulb. We suggest it for the dry, indoor places you walk through after dark, often with your hands full: a hallway, a landing, a stairwell or a box room. The dusk-to-dawn sensor responds to falling light levels, which makes it a sensible choice for a hall or landing that goes dark early on winter evenings. For anyone who gropes for a switch late at night, or an older relative who would rather not cross a dark hall, that is a real comfort.
The shade is plastic in an opal finish, so the whole bulb is light at 0.064KG packed and takes a knock better than glass would. It runs on a 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains supply and carries energy class D. It is not dimmable, so put it where the switch is a plain on and off switch rather than a dimmer. Before you buy, check that your lampholder takes an E27 cap, the large screw type, and that a bulb 11.2cm long sits comfortably inside the shade or fitting you have in mind.
