Description

The Opal is a frosted white glass table lamp shaped as an asymmetric bowl approximately 300mm across and 140mm tall, with a single E27 bulb fitting concealed inside the glass. The frosted finish diffuses light in all directions, turning the entire glass form into a glowing object rather than projecting a beam. A minimal white metal base holds the glass bowl just above the surface it sits on, creating a floating appearance.

Designed for bedside tables, occasional tables in living rooms, and low shelving where soft ambient light is needed without directed task lighting, the Opal sits low enough to avoid blocking sightlines across a room. The organic bowl shape reads as sculptural decoration when switched off, and as a diffused light source when lit. The 300mm width suits tables and shelves 400-600mm deep without overwhelming the surface.

The frosted glass conceals the bulb completely, so any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb can be used without visible hardware or light source glare. The white finish on both the glass and the base pairs cleanly with white walls, light wood furniture, and neutral-toned interiors. The lamp weighs 1.9kg, giving it stability on most surfaces without needing to be secured.

What bulb does it take?

The Opal takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for soft ambient lighting. The frosted glass conceals the bulb completely, so any bulb shape can be used.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if you use a dimmable E27 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch or plug-in dimmer. The lamp itself has no built-in dimming control.

Where is it best used?

The Opal works as bedside lighting, on occasional tables in living rooms, on low shelving, or on console tables in hallways where soft ambient light is needed. The low 140mm height and diffused output make it unsuitable for reading or task work, but effective for background lighting.

How is the glass cleaned?

Wipe the frosted glass with a dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or marks, use a barely-damp cloth with plain water. Avoid glass cleaners or sprays that can leave residue on the frosted finish.
