Description

The Ontec S20 is a compact surface-mounted emergency luminaire drawing 1.95W from a 220-240V AC supply and giving 125 lumens at 5000K. It runs in non-maintained mode, so the integral LED stays off during normal operation and lights only when mains power fails, marking the escape route at the moment it is needed. In US terms this is an emergency exit light fixture, the type specified to keep stairwells, corridors and exit doors visible during an outage. The cool 5000K tone reads clearly against signage and surfaces in low light.

As a non-maintained fitting the S20 suits routes that are already lit while occupied, such as commercial corridors, plant rooms, car parks and warehouse aisles, switching on automatically when the supply drops. Its output is aimed at escape-route marking and obstacle visibility rather than general ambient lighting, so think of it in terms of coverage along a defined path and around exit points rather than a floor area. Mounting at the heights set out in your emergency lighting layout lets each unit cover its section of the route, with additional units spaced along longer corridors as the design dictates.

Built from white plastic, the S20 carries an IP65 rating, so it is weatherproof and can be fitted in exposed outdoor and wet locations as well as damp utility and industrial areas. The self-test function runs its own duration and function checks automatically, reducing the manual testing burden across a site. It can be surface mounted to either a wall or a ceiling to fit the route geometry. The white finish keeps it discreet against most backgrounds. Other wattages and modes in the Ontec range let you match each part of a building to its requirements.

Frequently Asked

Is this a maintained or non-maintained emergency light?

The Ontec S20 is non-maintained, meaning the LED stays off while the mains supply is present and illuminates only when power fails. This mode suits spaces that are already lit when occupied, such as corridors and plant rooms, where light is only required during an outage to mark the escape route.

What does the self-test function do?

The self-test feature runs automatic function and duration checks on the unit and its battery without manual intervention. This helps keep the fitting compliant and flags faults early, which cuts down the routine testing workload across a larger installation.

Can the S20 be used outdoors or in wet areas?

Yes. With its IP65 rating the S20 is weatherproof and suitable for exposed outdoor positions and wet locations, as well as damp utility and industrial sites. It can be surface mounted to a wall or ceiling to suit the route being protected.

How do I clean and maintain the fitting?

Wipe the white plastic housing and lens with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding solvents that could mar the surface. Keep the lens clear so the 125 lumen output is not obstructed, and let the self-test function handle the routine battery and function checks.
