Description

Clear crystal drops hang in close tiers around a polished chrome column, catching the light from three candle lamps set within. A plain white shade sits over the top, so the sparkle stays low down and the light spilling onto the table below stays soft. At 40cm across it has real presence, wide enough to fill a console top or balance a broad bedside table. An inline switch on the flex handles it, so there is no reaching behind furniture in the dark.

We think of this as an evening lamp rather than a working one: put it in a hall to greet people, on a sitting room side table beside a chair, or in a bedroom where you want a little glitter without a chandelier overhead. It suits traditional and pared back rooms alike, since the white shade keeps the crystal in check. With dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer it will take the level right down, though neither is supplied here.

The frame and column are finished in polished chrome, bright and reflective, and the crystal is cut clear so it throws small points of light across the wall when lit. Give the drops an occasional dust with a dry lint free cloth, working a handful at a time, and wipe the chrome with a barely damp cloth after; do this with the lamp off at the socket and the lamps cold. Avoid household sprays, which dull cut glass over time. It carries a one year warranty.
