Description

The Olivia is a single-light wall light built around a curved metal arm that extends from an oval backplate, finished in black with gold patina accents applied by hand. The fitting holds a single E14 candle bulb (sold separately) in an upward-facing socket, positioned at the end of a scrolled bracket that incorporates organic leaf detailing at the join. The gold patina highlights these decorative elements and the raised border around the backplate.

Designed for hallways, bedroom walls flanking a headboard, or living rooms where accent lighting is needed without a fixed overhead position, the Olivia projects 175mm from the wall and stands 270mm tall. The narrow 85mm width allows pairs to be fitted either side of a mirror, fireplace or door frame without visual crowding. The fitting is wired for mains voltage and connects to standard UK wall lighting circuits behind the backplate.

Each Olivia wall light is handmade and hand-finished, so the exact tone and distribution of the gold patina varies slightly between individual pieces depending on how the finish oxidises during application. The contrast between the black base coat and the gold highlights gives depth to the metalwork under both daylight and artificial light. Optional glass shades are available separately to fit over the candle bulb, softening the direct glow for bedrooms or areas where diffused light is preferred over the exposed filament look.

The Olivia takes a single E14 small Edison screw candle bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in 2700K warm white, or a decorative LED filament candle for a traditional look.

Can glass shades be added?

Yes. Elstead produces optional glass shades designed to fit over the E14 bulb holder. These soften the direct glow and diffuse the light, making the fitting more suitable for bedrooms or areas where exposed bulb brightness is too harsh.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb type and the wall dimmer switch. LED bulbs must be marked as dimmable and paired with an LED-compatible dimmer. Traditional incandescent or halogen E14 candle bulbs dim on standard rotary or slide dimmers.

Does the gold patina wear off?

The patina is applied during the hand-finishing process and is stable once cured. It will not rub off under normal use. Each piece shows slight variation in patina tone and coverage due to the handmade process.
