O2 1 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome

The O2 is a 140mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a single sphere of bubble-textured clear glass mounted on a polished chrome base. The glass is formed with trapped air pockets that create an organic bubble pattern throughout the material, refracting light internally and casting subtle shadow patterns across adjacent walls and ceilings. A single G9 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the globe.

Designed for rooms with standard or lower ceiling heights where a full pendant would hang too low, the O2 projects just 145mm from the ceiling once fitted. This makes it suitable for hallways and compact bedrooms where ceiling clearance is limited but decorative light is needed. The polished chrome mount reflects the ceiling surface, helping the fitting sit visually lighter than a matt-finish equivalent.

The bubble-glass texture scatters light in multiple directions rather than casting it in a single cone, giving the O2 a combination of ambient and decorative function. The 140mm diameter provides enough presence to act as a focal point in a 2m-wide hallway or over a side table in an entrance hall, without dominating spaces under 10m². The chrome finish pairs with cool-toned interiors, modern bathrooms and polished hardware throughout a property.

Each glass sphere shows slight variation in bubble distribution depending on the moulding process, so no two O2 fittings look identical when lit. The 1.68kg weight is distributed across the ceiling rose fixing, which fits standard UK wiring and requires a solid ceiling material (plasterboard on joists, not suspended tile) for safe installation.

The fitting is designed for dry indoor use.

What bulb does it take?

The O2 takes a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. We suggest pairing this with a 3-5W LED G9 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for hallway or accent lighting. Check that any dimmer-compatible bulb is marked as G9-dimmable if you plan to use a dimmer switch.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 145mm projection from ceiling to base of the glass sphere makes the O2 a good choice for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or lower, where a pendant would hang into head clearance.

Does the bubble pattern vary between fittings?

Yes. The bubble-glass is formed by trapping air pockets during the moulding process, so the exact distribution and size of bubbles differs slightly between individual pieces. This is a characteristic of the material, not a defect.

Can it be fitted in a bathroom?

No IP rating is declared for the O2, so it is suitable for dry indoor locations only and should not be installed in a bathroom zone where moisture or spray is present.
