Description

The Norma is a single-light wall fitting built around a vertically ribbed smoked glass shade, held on a horizontal brass arm that extends from a matt black circular wall plate. The E27 lampholder sits inside the glass, which diffuses light through the ribbed surface while the smoked tint softens the glow. The lamp ships without a bulb — pair it with an LED filament bulb rated up to 20W for a warm visible-element effect, or a standard frosted LED for more diffuse light.

Designed for indoor wall mounting in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and dining rooms, the Norma works as accent lighting either side of a bed, flanking a mirror, or spaced along a hallway at 1.8-2.0m intervals. The 22cm projection from the wall means the fitting needs clearance above furniture or in narrow corridors. The IP20 rating limits it to dry indoor spaces — it is not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use.

The combination of matt black metal, uncoated brass detailing and smoked grey glass gives the fitting a mid-century industrial character without heavy weathering or distressing. The brass arm and collars will develop a natural patina over time if left unpolished. The ribbed glass shade is moulded rather than blown, so the ribbing pattern is consistent between units. At 1.5kg the fitting needs secure mounting into a solid wall or a wall plate fixed to studwork.

What bulb does the Norma take?

The fitting uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb rated up to 20W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 6-8W and 2700K for a visible-element glow through the smoked glass.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb you fit. The Norma itself is a Class 1 wired fitting with no electronics, so if you pair it with a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer on the circuit, it will dim. Check the bulb datasheet before pairing with a dimmer.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Norma is only suitable for dry indoor spaces. It is not rated for bathroom zones or outdoor use.

Does the brass tarnish over time?

Yes. The brass arm and collars are uncoated metal and will develop a natural patina over months of exposure to air and handling. This is a normal characteristic of untreated brass. The patina can be removed with a brass polish if you prefer to maintain the original bright finish.
