Two E27 lampholders sit along a slim horizontal bar, each wearing its own black shade, and the matt black metalwork is warmed by a length of beech that lets the timber grain show. The proportions stay quiet: a shallow body, shades held close beneath it, and enough width to cover a run of table rather than a single place setting. The drop is adjustable, so it can hang low over a worktop or be lifted clear of head height where people pass beneath. We reach for a linear pendant like this over a dining table, a kitchen island or a long console, anywhere a single round shade would leave the ends of a surface in shadow. It works well in a home office too, sitting above a desk without crowding the sightline across the room. We would fit LED GLS lamps, up to 23W each, and it will dim if you pair suitable lamps with a compatible dimmer. It is wired for ordinary household mains and suits dry rooms indoors, so keep it out of bathrooms and porches.

Metal does the structural work here, with the beech giving the piece a Scandinavian softness that keeps the black from reading as heavy. The matt finish is forgiving of fingerprints, and a dust with a dry cloth every few weeks is all it asks; leave sprays and polishes off the timber, and let the lamps cool before you handle the shades. Which lamps does it take?

It takes two E27 lamps, with LED GLS (A60) recommended and a maximum of 23W per lamp. Lamps are not supplied.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps together with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the pendant.

How should I clean it?

Switch off at the wall and let the lamps go cold, then lift dust from the shades and the bar with a soft dry cloth. Nothing wet or solvent based should go near the beech.
