Description

The Noctis is a 40cm flush ceiling light built from a white powder-coated metal cylinder mounted on a turned aluminium fixing base. The cylindrical tube sits 60mm in diameter and 400mm long, directing a single GU10 bulb downwards to create a concentrated beam of light below the fitting. The matt white finish diffuses the light softly while the open-ended cylinder focuses the beam path.

Designed for hallways, corridors, bedrooms and home offices where ceiling height is limited or a flush profile is required, the Noctis provides direct downlight without the bulk of a pendant. The 40cm projection works in ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards, giving focused illumination over a desk, bedside table or hallway run without creating harsh shadows. The GU10 fitting accepts LED, halogen or energy-saving bulbs up to the maximum wattage (see Specification), giving flexibility to set brightness and colour temperature.

The aluminium base is turned rather than stamped, giving a smoother fixing mechanism and better contact with the ceiling rose. The white powder coating resists yellowing and fingerprints better than gloss finishes, maintaining a clean appearance in high-traffic areas. The IP20 rating restricts the Noctis to dry indoor spaces only — bathrooms and outdoor use require a higher IP-rated alternative. The fitting is compatible with standard dimmer switches when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb.

The Noctis takes a single GU10 bulb, sold separately. GU10 LED bulbs in 4-6W typically provide sufficient brightness for a hallway or bedside position. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb and compatible dimmer switch.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means this fitting is suitable for dry indoor spaces only. Bathrooms require a minimum IP44 rating, and zones 1 and 2 require IP65 or higher.

How is it mounted?

The turned aluminium base fixes directly to a standard UK ceiling rose using the integrated fixing points. The cylindrical body then screws onto the base, concealing the wiring and ceiling connection inside the aluminium housing.

What's the beam angle?

The beam angle depends on the GU10 bulb chosen. The 400mm cylinder length focuses the light downwards, so a wide-beam GU10 (120°) will spread more light to the sides, while a narrow-beam GU10 (38°) creates a tighter pool of light directly below the fitting.
