Description

The Ninette is an 80cm-wide chandelier built around three sweeping arms of antique brass metalwork, each carrying two E14 bulb fittings capped with black fabric shades. The arms extend outward from a central stem on asymmetric curves, giving the frame a sculptural quality when seen from any angle. Each of the six shades has a wave-edged contour that breaks the straight line between the shade and the brass mount.

Designed for dining tables in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.5m or above, large entrance halls and open-plan kitchen-diners, the Ninette provides layered ambient light distributed across an 80cm footprint. The adjustable drop between 540mm and 1500mm allows the chandelier to be set 700-900mm above a table surface or lower in double-height spaces. The six E14 fittings accept standard small Edison screw bulbs up to 40W each (sold separately), giving control over light temperature and brightness.

The antique brass finish on the metalwork shows a warmer, slightly aged tone compared to polished brass, with a satin-smooth surface that catches light without glare. The black fabric shades conceal the bulbs from direct view while allowing downward and outward light spill, preventing glare at eye level when seated. At 3.5kg the chandelier needs a ceiling fixing capable of supporting at least 5kg once bulbs and shade weight are included.

Each arm branches from the central stem at a different height and angle, creating visual interest from below and avoiding the rigid symmetry of traditional chandelier layouts. The wave-edged shades add texture when lit, as light passes through the thinner sections of fabric at the peaks and troughs of the wave pattern. The antique brass pairs comfortably with warm-toned woods, terracotta, deep greens and heritage colour schemes.

Is the Ninette dimmable?

Yes, the chandelier is dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The bulbs are sold separately, so you control the dimming capability through your bulb choice.

What bulbs does it take?

The Ninette uses six E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 40W. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient dining light. Bulbs are not included.

What drop height works for a dining table?

The adjustable drop of 540-1500mm allows the chandelier to sit 700-900mm above a table surface in rooms with standard 2.4-2.7m ceiling heights. In higher spaces the drop can be extended to maintain the same clearance above the table.

What ceiling fixing is needed?

The chandelier weighs 3.5kg. Once bulbs and the chain are included the total suspended weight is approximately 4kg. The ceiling fixing must support at least 5kg and fit a standard UK ceiling rose. Professional installation is recommended for plasterboard ceilings without joist backing.
