The Ninette is a 600mm semi-flush ceiling light with a tapered black fabric shade suspended from an antique brass frame. Four E27 bulb fittings sit inside the shade, casting light downwards through the white interior lining and softly through the black fabric itself. The frame consists of two curved antique brass arms that rise from a ceiling-mounted circular plate, supporting the shade approximately 560mm below the ceiling rose.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Ninette provides ambient general lighting without the full drop of a pendant. The semi-flush mounting keeps the fitting closer to the ceiling than a standard pendant, making it suitable for rooms where a full suspension would sit too low or interfere with movement. The 600mm shade diameter suits spaces of 12-18m² where a single central fitting is expected to provide the main ambient light source.

The black cotton-blend fabric shade shows a subtle texture under close inspection and the scalloped lower edge introduces a gentle wave pattern to the profile. The antique brass finish on the frame and ceiling plate carries a darker, aged patina compared to polished or brushed brass, giving warmth without high reflectivity. The shade's white interior lining reflects light downwards and outwards, preventing the black exterior from absorbing too much of the bulb output.

The four E27 fittings accept standard Edison screw bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or decorative filament bulbs depending on the light temperature and style required. Dimmable when paired with compatible bulbs and a suitable dimmer switch.

Is the Ninette dimmable?

The fitting itself is compatible with dimming when paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a suitable dimmer switch. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail when used with a dimmer.

What bulbs does it take?

The Ninette takes four standard E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient room lighting.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 560mm drop from ceiling to the bottom of the shade suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. In rooms with lower ceilings the fitting may feel too close to head height when standing.

Can the shade be cleaned?

The black fabric shade can be dusted with a soft brush or vacuumed gently using an upholstery attachment. For marks, spot-clean with a barely-damp cloth and allow to air-dry fully before switching the light back on.
