Description

The Nilvanne is a black LED outdoor wall light shaped as a crisp rectangular box, with a cast aluminium body and clear glass over its four integrated LEDs. It measures 24cm long and 10.5cm high, and it comes 11.5cm off the wall, so it sits neatly beside a door without crowding a narrow path. Light leaves the box both upwards and downwards, washing the wall in two soft bands while the front stays plain and dark. It is rated IP44, meaning it is protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors on a house wall all year.

We think it suits a front door, a back porch, a patio wall or the side of a garage, anywhere a little light helps people find the step and the keyhole after dark. Each of its four lights gives 390 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that sits kindly against brick, render and painted walls. Because the light travels up and down the wall rather than straight out, the glow falls on the surface instead of into the eyes of guests or neighbours. Fit a pair either side of a door, or a run along a terrace, for an even, matching rhythm of light. The clean black lines suit modern dark window frames.

Aluminium does not rust, which matters for a fitting that stays outside through every season, and the clear glass keeps the LEDs covered. The LEDs are built in and are not replaceable, so there is never a bulb to change. The light is not dimmable, so it always gives its full, steady output. There is no switch on the fitting itself: it runs from a wall switch on 220-240V mains. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 1.693KG. We suggest marking its position by the door before the work begins.
