Description

The Nico is a 489mm geometric pendant light built from a burnished brass cage frame that tapers from a wide diamond profile at the top down to a single point at the base, with a single E27 bulb holder suspended in the centre. The frame is hand-welded from solid brass rod, forming six converging straight edges that meet in crisp angles without visible joins or fasteners.

Designed for double-height entrance halls, stairwells and dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or higher, the Nico pairs well with exposed-filament LED bulbs that echo the geometric frame. The 813mm cage height provides visual presence without blocking sightlines across the room. The drop is adjustable between 908mm minimum and 2474mm maximum, allowing the pendant to be set at different heights depending on whether it's centred over a dining table, positioned in a void above a staircase, or hung in a double-height hallway.

The burnished brass finish sits between polished brass and antique brass in tone, providing warmth without the high shine of polished metal or the patina of aged finishes. The open cage design weighs the frame against the bulb itself, making the light source part of the composition rather than hiding it behind a shade. The frame casts geometric shadows on surrounding walls when lit, adding secondary visual interest beyond the direct light from the bulb.

What bulb works best with the Nico?

The open cage design pairs well with exposed-filament LED bulbs in E27 fitting. Most users choose a warm-white LED between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to echo the brass tone, or a clear filament bulb for a more industrial look. Bulbs are sold separately.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 908mm plus the 813mm cage height means you need at least 1.7m of clearance below the ceiling rose. This makes the Nico better suited to double-height spaces, stairwells or rooms with ceilings above 2.7m rather than standard 2.4m ceiling heights.

Can the drop be shortened during installation?

Yes. The 1524mm chain or cord can be adjusted between 908mm minimum and 2474mm maximum drop during fitting, allowing the pendant to be set at different heights depending on the room and ceiling height.

Does the brass tarnish over time?

Burnished brass is a living finish that will develop a natural patina with exposure to air and handling. This is considered a feature of the material. If you prefer to maintain the original tone, occasional polishing with a brass-specific cloth will restore the finish.
