Description

The Next is a 10-metre length of 2-core fabric-sheathed lighting cable with a brass-coloured textile covering over a 5mm diameter core. Manufactured by Ideal Lux, the cable combines flexible installation with a decorative finish suited to exposed pendant drops, custom chandeliers and visible wiring runs where standard PVC flex would look out of place.

Designed for pendant light installations, the cable allows custom drop lengths from ceiling roses to lamp holders without the need for chain or rigid conduit. The 10m length can be cut to size on site, making it adaptable to ceiling heights between 2.4m and 4m+ and allowing multiple pendants to be wired from a single cable run. The textile sheath protects the internal copper conductors from abrasion during installation and provides a softer finish than bare PVC when the cable runs along exposed beams or through metal ceiling canopies.

The brass-coloured fabric finish sits between polished gold and antique brass in tone, providing a warm metallic accent that pairs with both warm and cool interior palettes. The woven textile construction gives the cable a slight visual texture under close inspection, distinguishing it from solid-colour PVC alternatives. The 5mm diameter keeps the cable visually proportionate to standard E27 and E14 lamp holders without appearing heavy or industrial. Rated for 230V mains use with a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

Yes. The 10m length can be cut to any size needed for your installation. The cable is sold by the metre, so you purchase the full 10m spool and cut it down on site. Standard cable stripping and termination tools are used to prepare the ends for connection to ceiling roses and lamp holders.

The cable is rated for 230V mains use in UK lighting installations. It is a 2-core flex (live and neutral conductors) and requires a separate earth connection via the ceiling rose or mounting hardware when used with metal lamp fittings.

Is the fabric sheath durable?

The textile covering is woven tightly around the internal PVC insulation and provides protection from abrasion during installation and general handling. It is not weatherproof and should not be used in outdoor or damp locations. For cleaning, wipe gently with a dry cloth — avoid soaking the fabric or using chemical cleaners.
