Description
The Newport is a single-light outdoor wall lantern built around a lantern-style body with clear seeded glass panels and a vented top cap, finished in antique bronze. The fitting stands 229mm tall with a 159mm width and 193mm projection from the wall, housing a single E27 bulb (sold separately, maximum 60W). The IP44 rating protects the fitting against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, doorways and exterior walls under eaves.
Designed for residential entrances, side doors, garage walls and garden paths, the Newport pairs coastal and traditional architectural styles. The vented top cap references lighthouse lanterns, while the seeded glass diffuses light through small bubbles and imperfections in the glass, softening the direct bulb glow. The antique bronze finish shows darker patina in recesses and lighter bronze on raised edges, giving the metal a weathered appearance from installation.
The body is moulded from a synthetic composite material designed for coastal exposure and weather cycling, providing corrosion resistance that cast aluminium or steel fittings cannot match in salt-spray environments. The clear seeded glass sits inside a cylindrical frame with horizontal banding at top and bottom, holding the panels in place without visible screws on the exterior. The wall plate is flat rectangular with rounded corners, fixing to standard outdoor electrical boxes.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 protects the fitting against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes the Newport suitable for covered exterior positions such as under porch roofs, door canopies and eaves, but not for fully exposed wall positions with no overhead cover or direct rainfall.
What bulb does it take?
The Newport takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the traditional styling and seeded glass.
Is the composite body better than metal for coastal areas?
Yes. The synthetic composite material resists salt-spray corrosion and does not oxidise or pit like cast aluminium or steel. This makes the Newport particularly suitable for coastal properties or areas with high humidity and marine exposure.
How is the fitting maintained?
Wipe the antique bronze finish with a dry or barely-damp cloth to remove dust and surface dirt. The seeded glass can be cleaned with standard glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners on the bronze finish as they may lighten the patina.
