Description

The Quoizel Newbury is a 264mm-wide outdoor chain pendant with a polished brass lantern frame and bevelled clear glass panels, housing two E14 candle bulbs (sold separately). The brass frame forms a six-sided tapered profile topped with a domed canopy and decorative finial, suspended on a 1200mm brass chain that allows height adjustment during installation. The bevelled glass panels sit within the brass framework, creating both weather protection and a defined edge that refracts light.

Designed for covered outdoor areas, the IP23 rating protects against vertically-falling rain and light splashing but not direct exposure to heavy weather or horizontal rain. The pendant suits covered porches, entrance canopies, loggia ceilings, and similar sheltered outdoor applications where ceiling heights permit a minimum 508mm drop from fixing to base of lantern. The polished brass finish reflects warm light and develops a natural patina over time unless regularly polished to retain the mirror-like sheen.

The lantern measures 497mm tall before accounting for the chain drop, giving a total maximum drop of 1708mm when the full chain length is used. At its narrowest adjustment the pendant sits 508mm below the ceiling fixing point, suitable for lower porch ceilings in the 2.4m range. The brass canopy diameter is approximately 130mm and covers standard UK ceiling roses. Each E14 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, though most installations pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs in the 4-6W range at 2700K.

No. The IP23 rating protects against vertically-falling rain and light splashing but not horizontal rain, wind-driven water or submersion. The Newbury is designed for covered porches, entrance canopies and loggia ceilings where it has overhead shelter from direct weather.

What bulbs does it take?

The pendant takes two E14 candle bulbs (small Edison screw) up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for energy efficiency and long life.

How is the drop height adjusted?

The 1200mm chain length is adjusted during installation by removing chain links before final fixing. Once installed the drop cannot be changed without removing the pendant from the ceiling. The minimum drop of 508mm includes the lantern height plus the shortest practical chain configuration.

Does the polished brass tarnish?

Polished brass develops a natural patina over time when exposed to air and moisture. The lacquered finish slows this process but does not prevent it entirely. Regular polishing with a brass cleaner restores the mirror-like sheen; leaving it untouched allows a warmer aged tone to develop.
