Description

The Newbury is a 356mm outdoor wall lantern built around a lacquered polished brass frame with clear bevelled glass panels and a domed brass top with hanging ring detail. The lantern takes one E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and sits on a 203mm-wide brass backplate that fixes to exterior walls, projecting 198mm from the mounting surface.

Designed for covered porches, front entrances, garage side doors and patio walls, the IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, making the fitting suitable for partially sheltered outdoor positions. The clear bevelled glass creates defined edges to the light output and allows the bulb shape to remain visible, suiting both traditional filament bulbs and modern LED filament styles that replicate the classic Edison look.

The polished brass is sealed with a clear lacquer to maintain the reflective finish and slow down natural tarnishing, though outdoor brass will naturally develop a patina over time depending on exposure to salt air, moisture and UV. The curved glass panels sit within individual brass frames that give the lantern its hexagonal profile, and the hanging-ring detail at the top references coach lamp and carriage light designs from the 18th and 19th centuries.

IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction, making the lantern suitable for covered porches, under eaves and other partially sheltered positions. It is not rated for fully exposed locations where driving rain would hit the fitting directly.
