Description

The New England is a single-light outdoor wall lantern with a weathered bronze finish and hand-blown glass panels set within a ribbed cast-aluminium frame. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), housed behind clear seeded glass that diffuses the light outward while protecting the bulb from weather exposure. An IP44 rating provides protection against rain and dust, making it suitable for covered porches, front doors, and garage entrances.

Designed for traditional and period-style homes, the lantern's scrolled wall bracket and domed canopy reference early twentieth-century American exterior lighting, where gas-to-electric conversions created the lantern-on-bracket format. The 195mm projection positions the light away from the wall to illuminate a wider spread across steps, pathways or driveways. The weathered bronze finish shows deliberate tonal variation, with darker recesses and lighter raised detail, mimicking natural weathering on aged metalwork.

The hand-blown glass panels have a seeded texture that refracts light into softer patterns rather than producing harsh glare, which suits entrance lighting where direct sightlines to the bulb are common. The cast-aluminium construction resists corrosion in exposed coastal or high-rainfall locations. Mounting hardware is included for fixing to standard masonry or timber-clad walls, with the back plate covering a circular junction box footprint. The fitting weighs approximately 1.8kg once installed.

Frequently Asked

What does the IP44 rating mean for this outdoor light?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashed from any direction. It is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, door canopies and garage entrances, but should not be used in fully exposed positions where heavy rain or direct hose spray is likely.

What bulb should I use with this lantern?

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K for outdoor entrance lighting. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can this be installed on a rendered or brick wall?

Yes. The back plate is designed for fixing to masonry, rendered walls or timber cladding using the supplied mounting hardware. The plate covers a standard circular junction box footprint.

Does the weathered bronze finish fade over time?

The weathered bronze is a factory-applied finish with deliberate tonal variation. The cast-aluminium construction resists further corrosion, so the finish remains stable in outdoor conditions rather than continuing to weather.
