Description

This cream and white resin photo frame keeps a favourite picture from the christening day close at hand, with the words "my christening" raised across the top border in a silver tone. A small cross in the same silver tone sits centred beneath the picture window, giving the piece a quiet, fitting finish. The frame takes a 6 x 4in photograph in portrait, and the whole piece measures 20cm tall, 14.5cm wide and 9cm deep, so it sits comfortably on a shelf without taking over. The broad, flat border has a softly stepped outer edge that frames the picture neatly and lets the photograph do the talking.

We think it makes a thoughtful christening gift, the kind of present that stays out on display long after the day itself. Choose a photograph from the service, the family gathering afterwards or a quiet moment at home, and the frame turns it into a keepsake of the occasion. It suits a nursery shelf, a bedside table, a mantelpiece or a dresser in the hall, and the soft cream colour sits easily with pale woods, whites and gentle pastels. Because the wording names the occasion, it reads as a lasting record of the day, whichever room it ends up in and however many years go by.

The frame is made from resin, with a stand at the back so it rests on a shelf, desk or table and needs no wall or fixings. Resin gives the border its smooth, even surface and crisp detail around the lettering and cross. To care for it, dust with a soft dry cloth, and where it needs a little more, wipe it with a lightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. For a finishing touch, we like to slip the chosen photograph in before wrapping, so the frame is ready to set out the moment it is opened.
